As part of your report you must critically analyse the following areas as they apply to

your chosen bank.

 A brief description of the event and immediate implications for stakeholders

 Why the failure occurred?

 What were the early signs and were they obvious?

 What was the failed FI’s financial performance and position vis‐à‐vis industry peers

 during the 5 years leading to the failure (use full annual financial reports)

 The risk management strategies used and their effectiveness / implications

 Could the failure have been avoided and how?

 Can blame be laid at any party or parties?

 Recovery / Turnaround strategy and implications OR Insolvency / Bankruptcy process
