Question
A WHS Management Plan sets out the arrangements to manage work health and safety on
a construction project. A WHS Management Plan must be in writing and be easily
understood by workers. The level of detail required for a WHS Management Plan will
depend on how complex the project is and the risks involved in the work to be carried out.
The Principal Contractor is responsible for developing the plan.
For Project 2 – The Strathfield Apartments, as the Principal Contractor, you are required to
prepare a WHS Management Plan. As a minimum you are required to prepare the
following documentation:
• A WHS Policy
• The Roles and Responsibilities of persons in control of the site
• Hazard identification and risk control
• Safe work Method Statements
• Information, training, instruction and supervision
• Consultation, co-operation and co-ordination
• Incident Management
• Site Safety Rules
• Subcontractor Management
• Health and Safety Site Inspections
The Documentation should include: a procedure and any standard forms and registers that
are required to manage the documents and procedure. The standard forms required as a
minimum are:
• A WHS Policy
• A Toolbox meeting Record
• Site Induction Register
• Daily Inspection Sheet
• Subcontractor SWMS register
• Subcontractor register
• PPE Issue and Register
• Incident Report
