This assignment addresses the following learning outcome(s) of the module:
1) Understanding contractual and financial frameworks within which construction projects operate.
2) Understanding both the pre-tender and contract planning process and appreciate the many factors that influence the duration and sequencing of operations in the construction programme.
1) During the construction procurement process the client’s objectives in terms of cost, time and quality may differ from project to project. Discuss the features and merits or otherwise of each of the three main methods of procurement when addressing those objectives and suggest, citing specific project or client types, a type of project for which typically each may be chosen. (1500 words)
2) During tender preparation the contractor will assess the anticipated time for completion of the works along with associated costs. What resources are available to the contractor to carry out this exercise. Give examples of working practice where appropriate. (700 words).
