Essay Topic:

Explain the different ways of structuring a business. State the advantages and disadvantages of each and give an example of a type of business which commonly uses each of the structures.
The books on Course Reserve in the library and journal articles will be useful. The Course Reserve Books are available for 3 hours or you may photocopy some pages.

 Note: A word count must be included. Maximum word length is 1200 words. One mark will be deducted for going over the word limit or not including a word count.

Part 2 Reflective Statement 5 marks
Write a short reflective statement which:

• Describes the experience of writing your essay and the process of research that you undertook (key events)

• Describes your emotions or attitudes relating to the experience including what you found challenging in completing the assignment

• Explains what you would do differently next time taking into account the information in the two areas above.

Purpose of this Assignment
This assignment is designed to:
 Develop, use and demonstrate your research skills.
 Encourage you to read widely on the topic and to discuss ideas with others to formulate your opinion. (The question does not have a “correct” answer and there is no one book or article that directly answers the question. You will need to locate and read materials which will increase your understanding and crystallise your thinking.)
 Develop and demonstrate your critical, analytical and writing skills;
 Develop and demonstrate skills in reflecting on and improving, your research, analytical and writing skills.
This assessment is 25% of your final mark. You are required to write no more than 1200 words in essay form for Part 1 and no more than 500 words in the Reflective Statement. You need to write a clear and concise essay to stay within the word limit. We are seeking quality from your writing not quantity of words!
