Identify six key turning points in the history of the Christian Church after the Age of the Apostles
Prompt: Looking at the history of persons, nations, and institutions, we can identify “turning points”, events making a deep impact in the story. Sometimes these “turning points” do cause a change in direction, sometimes they open significant new possibilities, and all turning points divide the story into chapters–before and after. The person, nation, or institution differs after a “turning point.” Consider the history of the Christian Church. What are the significant turning points in the Church’s story?
Instructions: Identify six key turning points in the history of the Christian Church after the Age of the Apostles (CE 100). In at least one paragraph each, describe the event and justify your inclusion of it as a key turning point. Use short quotations from your textbooks, citing parenthetically, e.g. (AR, p225-7). I do not intend this essay as a research paper, so there is no need to consult sources other than your three books.
