prepare an academic review of one or more of the circulated paper(s), or paper(s) you have located and have had permission to use by the module lecturer as appropriate for this exercise.
Assignment One: Review of academic papers & professional literature .
Outline of Task
A review and discussion of one or more papers on one aspect or application of EIA, to be submitted following a seminar discussion.
You should prepare notes for the seminar discussion, and revise these, if necessary, for assessment. The review is intended to ensure familiarity with the range of literature related to EIA.
Read the papers which have been circulated or listed, identify similar material in relevant journals and analyse what you have read. Come to the seminar ready to talk about what you have read, and be ready to disagree with other interpretations. For assessment, produce a critical review of one or more of your papers, following the instructions below.
You should prepare an academic review of one or more of the circulated paper(s), or paper(s) you have located and have had permission to use by the module lecturer as appropriate for this exercise.
The review should be 1500 words in length.
Support your discussion by reference to other published material, and to examples. It is not satisfactory just to outline, or simply criticise, a single paper without putting it in a wider context. Either contrast two or more papers, or review a single paper in terms of other appropriate, published material. While your opinion and interpretation is important, it should be expressed in academic terms and backed up by a range of suitable references. Be very wary of opinions and ‘factual’ statements , especially online, that are not associated with an academic or professional source, or an official body.
