Research Challenge Case study investigation

Each student is to conduct research on the topic “Potential problem(s) with water
supply connections in buildings”.
The aim of the exercise is to enhance your knowledge on “things that could go
potentially wrong in the drinking water supply pipe connections in the building”.
This research study is not restricted to Australia, you can also investigate other cities
around the world on real case studies that have revealed problems in the water pipe
connections.
Example: An incident has occurred in 2015 where recycled water was accidently
connected to the drinking foundation at a school. Full news article is provided via this

So based on the case study above, you as a professional Hydraulic Service Engineer,
what steps would you take to remedy the problem and which authorities you would
need to report to? These are just some of the topics that you may consider in your
report. You will need to formulate your own report contents.
In order to enhance broader spectrum of case studies to be covered by individual, each
student must register their case study with me no later than 4th August 2015. No
repeat of the same case study by any students.
Report submission
The report must be presented professionally and must contain the following:
Title page, Table of Content, Introduction, listing of cited references. You will have
to formulate the outline of your report in such a way that one section flows into the
next section. Remember YOU NEED TO TELL A GOOD STORY. Word limit is
5000 words.
Submit directly via VU Collaborate under drop box entitled “Case study
investigation” no later than 18th Sept 2015. Submission time and date has been preset
in VU Collaborate and therefore if it is late, it won’t allow you to submit.
Each student is required to deliver 8 minutes presentation on their case study in class
in Week 12.
Good luck and happy researching!!
