In 1992 Geoffrey Rose stated, “The primary determinants of disease are mainly economic and social, and therefore its remedies must also be economic and social.  Medicine and politics cannot and should not be kept apart “ (Kaplan, 1995, p. 212).

The purpose of Assignment #2 is to consider the role healthcare professionals have in affecting health politics at the local, state, national, and international levels. The assignment should cover your opinion about the influence that healthcare professionals have in promoting the well-being of society; what role healthcare professionals currently play; what role they should play and what strategies may increase their positive affect on health politics. This assignment can be approached from an academic, clinical or research perspective.  Although this assignment is based on your viewpoint, use peer-reviewed journal articles and/or textbooks to support your beliefs.

Assignment#2 will be graded against the rubric for content (accurate and instructive), the coverage of required elements (what role healthcare professionals currently play; the role they should play, your opinion on this role; and strategies that healthcare professionals could use to improve global health politics).  As with all assignments, correct grammar and spelling, readability and creativity is required.
